Frequently asked questions.
I have a farm animal in need of a home, can you take them in?
While we’d love to be able to rescue every single animal, we’re sadly at capacity for the time being for every animal except turkeys. Our hope is to have a little more room to take in more animals when our Barn is built, but until then we don’t have any room in our shelters and coops for all animals aside from turkeys. We’re really sorry.
You can always reach out to Wasatch Wanderers, another non-profit animal rescue that we work closely with, in case they’re able to help. They don’t always have the space either, but they may have more room than us depending on the kind of animal.RESCORCES FOR ROOSTERS/CHICKENS NEEDING HOMES- Many people have had success with keeping their chickens who aren’t allowed in their backyard, in their house as a house chicken! Kind of like a cat, but instead a chicken. They often love to snuggle just like a dog and are easy to care for inside, especially if you get them their own little diapers to make clean up easier on your end. We often recommend trying that out before rehoming your little friends, as most people fall in love with keeping them inside just like a dog or cat would. Then you can always take them on walks with a halter and leash or let them out in your backyard like how you would a dog to give them some grass/play time outside of their usual environment.
How can I visit Sage Mountain?
We have many options to visit Sage Mountain, all requiring signing up ahead of time. We have opportunities for volunteering one time or regularly, to tour the sanctuary, do yoga at the sanctuary then hangout with the animals after, participate in a mini-mindfulness retreat in the presence of the animals, and more!
Our biggest event of the year is coming up, Gala for the Animals, which is a perfect time to visit and support Sage Mountain this year on August 30th.
We hope to see you soon!
How can I support the animals at Sage Mountain?
All forms of support go along way for the rescued animals that live at Sage Mountain, but the best way to directly help them is either by sponsoring them or by making a one time or recurring donation to help fund their care and life in sanctuary.
More ways to help the animals.
How many animals do you have?
We currently have 42 residents between pigs, goats, turkeys, chickens, cows, geese and sheep. All of them have their own story of how they ended up at Sage Mountain and each have their own fun personalities. We are at capacity for the time being for all animals except turkeys, but we’re hoping to have the capability to take in more animals once our Barn is done being built.
